This is the first blog on this website. What would I like to write about? Quite a lot, actually. About what can take our society to the next level.

We are vulnerable beings and we are complex beings. Most of us want to do good. That is what Rutger Bregman writes in his book Human Kind, which I highly recommend. The title of the Dutch version is De meeste mensen deugen, what translates as Most people are good. And this is no detail. He writes "de meeste" (or: “most”) in this title and not “alle” ("all"), for not “all people are good”, because there might house a devil inside each of us. I read that in the book De duivel in elk van ons (The Devil in Each of Us) by Christophe Busch. Another book that I highly recommend.

Alles wordt beter (Everything Will Be Different) is a third book that I recommend. Written by Koen Schoors, he notes that every seventy years, a major change takes place. The last one was just after the Second World War. And right now, we are at the beginning of a new one. In his book, Koen Schoors offers ideas for a better society, a Planet Next Level?

I often hear about science and insights that could heal or advance our society but that do not receive sufficient attention. I think that is what I mainly want to talk about in this blog. We sometimes get stuck in patterns or habits that do us more harm than good, but we are unaware of. If you want to change something, you have to change something. Hence, sometimes stories and ideas that may seem counterintuitive at first glance.
